Why POSTURE and TECHNICAL Analysis is Important

"Sit up straight!" "Don't slouch!" we've all heard those cautioning words more than once from our parents and coaches when we were growing up. And most of us complied with their command having no concept of the rationale behind their persistent push.

Human positions refer to the different positions that the human body can take. Position is a general term for a configuration of the human body; Posture means the intentionally or habitually assumed position and Pose implies artistic or aesthetic intention of the position.

What is good posture anyway and why is it so important? Basically posture refers to the body's alignment and positioning with respect to the ever-present force of gravity. Whether we are standing, sitting or lying down gravity exerts a force on our joints, ligaments and muscles. Good posture entails distributing the force of gravity through our body so one's structure is not over stressed.

An architect has to take these same laws of gravity and weight distribution into account when he or she designs a building. Similar to a building with a poor foundation, a body with poor posture is less resistant to the strains & stresses we experience over the months, years and decades of life. Similarly, in any sports posture plays a vital role in performing at the optimum level. Over the years sports persons and coaches have recognized the importance of ensuring a right posture and considerable amount of time and resources are spent in improving posture.

Body mechanics refers to how we position our body to perform movement activities like pushing, lifting or carrying. “Good" body mechanics will allow one to work and play more efficiently and with less stress on any one body part. Therefore analysis of you game becomes important not only from performance perspective but also from ensuring you are have injury free career and enjoy sports for long time. Most of the sports injury is result of wrong posture by people and professional players.
